The smallest opening controls the plan. Measure the tub and every gate, door, turn, and height restriction between the spa and the truck. A route that looks wide in a photo may still fail at a diagonal turn or screen-door frame.

Measure the object at its widest useful points

Record length, width, and height. Include protruding controls, steps, rails, cover lifters, and cabinet trim. If a removable part changes the measurement, photograph the fasteners and note that separately.

Measure openings, not fence-to-fence guesses

Use the clear opening with the gate or door fully open. Hinges, latches, thresholds, downspouts, and screen frames can reduce usable width. For a turn, measure both legs and the open area at the corner.

Look down as well as sideways

Mark steps, loose pavers, drains, slopes, irrigation heads, and soft planting beds. The crew may need a different route to protect the surface even when the tub technically fits.

Show the loading point

Include the driveway, curb, parking restrictions, and any distance from the last gate to the vehicle. Gated communities and condo properties may require a vendor entry or a limited service window.

Use this checklist

  • Spa length, width, and height
  • Narrowest clear opening
  • Turn dimensions
  • Step count and rise
  • Surface changes
  • Truck or trailer staging area
